PAYE Calculator
Estimate monthly PAYE, employee UIF and take-home pay using the South African 2027 tax table.
Uses SARS 2027 rates for 1 March 2026 to 28 February 2027 and assumes a regular cash salary. Bonuses, partial periods, retirement contributions, additional medical credits, directives and fringe benefits can change payroll PAYE.
How PAYE Is Estimated
PAYE is employee tax withheld by an employer and paid to SARS. This calculator annualises a regular cash salary, applies the progressive 2027 individual tax table, subtracts the age-based rebate and any standard medical scheme fees tax credit, then converts the result to a monthly estimate. It uses the statutory-rate method, so the printed SARS monthly table can differ slightly because it groups remuneration into bands and rounds values.
PAYE and UIF are different
Employee UIF is shown separately because it is not income tax. Where selected, it is estimated at 1% of monthly cash salary, capped at R177.12 per month. The take-home figure subtracts only estimated PAYE and employee UIF, so it does not include medical scheme premiums, retirement contributions or other payroll deductions.
When payroll may differ
Multiple employers, bonuses, commissions, travel allowances, tax directives, non-standard employment periods and taxable fringe benefits can materially affect the amount withheld. See the SARS 2027 tax deduction tables for official guidance.
